Special Escort Vehicle for Lady Diana’s funeral

Shortly after the 1994 launch events Land Rover created six CVC-registered Police demonstrators.  M751 CVC, a very early 4.0 SE production vehicle, was eventually transferred to the Metropolitan Police’s Special Escort Group (SEG).  Amongst many high profile events ‘751’ was used most notably to escort Lady Diana’s hearse on September 6th 1997, strewn with flowers, from Westminster Abbey to Althrop in Nottinghamshire.

In 2011, Range Rover collector Richard Hopkins discovered ‘751’ in a poor but original state.  Over the last 18 months Richard has painstakingly restored ‘751’ back to her original 1997 SEG livery.  She was exhibited at the Classic Motor Show at the NEC in November 2012 and drew a great deal of interest.
